Rosa Road currently intersects with Farmington Road at a wide angle, making it easy for motor vehicles to take the curve at high speeds. The angle also creates a long pedestrian crossing. These two elements make this a difficult and uncomfortable intersection for pedestrians to cross. This intersection is also very close to the intersection of Farmington Road and 179th Avenue, which introduces conflicts for vehicles that are turning. We are considering two options to improve this intersection.

Right-turn in, right-turn out intersection

This option would realign Rosa Road slightly to meet Farmington Road at a right angle. Due to this intersection’s proximity to 179th Avenue, only right turns would be allowed onto Rosa Road and only right turns would be allowed from Rosa Road to Farmington Road. Both Rosa Road and 179th Avenue would have stop signs.

This option would:

  • Impact access between Rosa Road and Farmington Road
  • Reduce vehicle and pedestrian conflicts
  • Involve minor impacts to private property
  • Involve significant cost

Close Rosa Road at Farmington Road

This option would construct a barricade on Rosa Road, closing access to Farmington Road at the intersection. Drivers would need to access Rosa Road from 185th Avenue.

This option would:

  • Significantly impact access between Rosa Road and Farmington Road
  • Eliminate vehicle and pedestrian conflicts
  • Involve little or no impact to private property
  • Involve little cost
